MG
Very good for the use I have!
Mr Gui 25.06.2021
This review is only about using it to achieve a massive metal tone on a high gain channel. Don't have used it for any other purpose for now.

a brief introduction:
as it is the case with other people having reviewed the product, I have become aware of this pedal from a Rob Barrett (Cannibal Corpse, in case you just arrived on planet earth) interview.
He has a massive sound. And yes, this pedal helps you get a massive sound.

I don't use it with a rectifier but with a revv generator 7/40.
In general i push my high gain sound with an overdrive in a typical way: level at max, gain at zero and tone wherever I like it. Until I got the maxon I was using either an amptweaker tight drive junior or a Black Arts Tonework Witch burner. Both are great... But for metal, after having compared the three, the maxon is just the best in my opinion.

I use it a bit differently than I would with other drives because I put the drive at 13 and the level around 12. Tone and mids, a bit before twelve. And of course, the low boost is an "always on" option.

And yeah, it does sound massive. Yess it tightens your amp's distortion and pushes all the right mids but the low boost really gives you thaht extra "ooomph" that sounds so killer on mid-tempo heavy rythm. But I must say it sounds equally great on lead parts. I dont' find it muddy at all.

In short:
I don't know (yet) about its versatility but for (death) metal, it just slays, and crushes, and obliterate, and annihilate, and...

well, you got my point anyway...

I wish I bought it before...

(And the extra control dedicated to mid frequencies is an nice thing to have too).

T
Great as a boost or overdrive
Th3T 03.11.2021
This thing is quality. It is a heavy pedal, they did not cheap out on the casing. The overall control with the Mid enhance knob plus the tone knob gives you the choice of which mid frequency to boost. The low boost is badass but with some setups it can sound a bit muddy/less transparent. I was tempted to pick this up after seeing Rob Barrett showcase the pedal on YouTube. The low boost really does ''make it sound like two guitars''

S
Classic on steroids
Shashi 10.07.2023
Amazing pedal, very traditional sound with bigger tweakability.
Magic pedal, sound is very detailed, a lot of volume boost, 18v mode lets you play with more dynamic, 9V sounds more compressed but in a good way, a little bit like having active pickups. There is one very important thing that defines that pedal for me - it's the mid enchance knob. It wasn't easy to figure it out for me because not many people knows how it works, and from what I've learned it make it possible to choose a frequency which is boosted. In classic TS9 type overdrive we have that "bump" fixed, but here we can choose which mid frequency we want to have boosted, and we have a lot to choose from, range like with every knob on that pedal is huge, that's one of the reasons why I love this pedal, it allows you to go thru the roof with amount of boosts and range to choose from, good choice.
