I bought this as I didn't want to shell out for one of the big name power supplies but still wanted something with isolated outputs to run a secondary pedalboard that I have with 8 pedals on it. For the price this is really excellent value. It's chinese made, obviously, but the vast majority of power supplies these days are, and without exception all of the ones in this price range. I've had problems with power supplies from the big name brands that cost me twice this much so that didn't worry me.
This offers great features for the price. It's got 1200ma total output, spread across 5 different isolated outputs. One of the outputs offers 200ma current at a switchable voltage, three others offer separately isolated 9v 200ma lines, and the final fifth section offers 400ma spread over up to 4 outputs. This is basically like a single 400ma daisy chain with four different outputs, so that section could power multiple 9v pedals combined or one power hungry digital unit for example.
Each of the 8 output jacks has a dedicated LED to indicate which outputs are in operation. I've noticed that these LEDs are a little temperamental on the last isolated 400ma 4 port output and sometimes light up and sometimes don't. The manual says this is an "over current protection feature" and that when the LED goes out the draw is more than the output can supply, but that doesn't make sense as the pedals I've plugged in don't come close to the 400ma total on that section. This was the only quirk I could find, and the reason i didn't give this product 5 stars. I'm not sure if it's just the unit I got or it's a general design thing common to the product, but it doesn't seem to effect how the power supply works. The outputs themselves all seem to be supplying power to all my effects fine and there's absolutely no problems with noise or buzz or any strange behaviour from any of my pedals. In fact the unit itself is perfectly quiet. I tested by cranking the master volume on my amp and kicking in all the pedals one by one, and there was no noise at all.
Build quality is good. It feels heavy and solid, just as well built as more expensive voodoo labs and Carl Martin units, steel housing, proper IEC mains input jack, and it's also fairly small, which saves on pedalboard space. It also works on 110v or 220v mains voltage which means you can use it anywhere in the world by just switching a fuse. That's a real bonus at this price.
Overall, some minor quirks aside, this is a very solid power supply that offers great value for what you pay, and sits right in between the cheaper more basic supplies and the big brand options that cost twice the price. Perfect for a medium sized pedalboard with some excellent features that you wouldn't expect for something in this price range.
