Multi-faceted sound in a portable package

The PE100 is the first multi-effects processor in a micro format from Chinese manufacturer Mooer that accommodates up to 99 individual user presets and 98 factory presets in a compact desktop housing with an LC display and at the same time offers a wide sonic palette thanks to six effect blocks with 39 different effects and seven amp models. This is complemented by 40 rhythm presets that cover the entire range from Country to Metal, which also makes the portable PE100 the perfect companion for spontaneous practice and jam sessions. The pocket-sized multi-effects unit additionally features a built-in tuner, four quick recall preset slots, and a tap tempo function that allows the speed of the selected drum preset (40 patterns included) or metronome (10 different types available) to be adjusted quickly and easily.

Mooer PE 100 Portable Guitar Effects

A world of sounds on a budget

From rich, warm-sounding jazzy cleans, a lively and dynamic crunch, or thunderous high-gain fuzz and distortion, the Mooer PE100 multi-effects unit offers the entire sonic palette for just about every musical genre with an excellent price-performance ratio. Users can select from seven amp models that cover various tonal styles from vintage clean to high-gain alongside numerous effects such as overdrive/distortion, fuzz, wah, echo, and reverb, and modulation effects such as flanger, chorus, and phaser. All of the preset and rhythm modes, global settings, and individual effect blocks with 39 different effects can be navigated through and individual effects added to the selected amp sim using the rotary/push mode control button.

A versatile pocket-sized companion

The Mooer PE100 features a tap button for adjusting either delay or the tempo of the selected drum pattern or metronome. Users can also conveniently store their own parameter configurations in up to 99 user presets and assign four of their favourite sounds to the A, B, C, and D buttons to ensure instant access with a single click. Thanks to its comprehensive range of inputs and outputs, the Mooer PE100 is eminently suitable for a wide variety of applications, from a standalone headphone amp with opulent features through to a preamp that is child's play to connect to a computer, a mixing console in the studio, or a real amp for quick recordings. Its compact dimensions of 13cm x 8cm, low weight of just 230g, and option of battery operation without a mains adapter also make this little sound monster a handy companion for touring songwriters or guitarists on the road.

About Mooer

Mooer is based in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and has been making products for guitarists since 2010, which include compact single pedals through to multi-effects units and compact amplifiers. The company initially produced a range of mini pedals before making perhaps its most significant breakthrough in 2016 with the sophisticated Ocean Machine delay pedal, which was designed in collaboration with Devin Townsend. Mooer's product range now also includes solutions that feature amp modelling, IR-based speaker simulation, and matching equalisers, and the company's focus remains firmly on the use of digital technology.

A piece of freedom

Whether it is for playing around with multi-effects in a hotel room, a serious recording session in the studio, or practising using an extravagant tool with groovy drum patterns – the Mooer PE100 is ideally equipped to capably handle every type of application, and allows users to effortlessly create their own individual sound thanks to a wide range of effects and dynamic amp models. This versatile sound station is small enough to fit in a trouser pocket and can even be operated on batteries, offering users greater freedom and flexibility wherever they go.

Like a B stock

It does the intended job perfectly. Easy to use and with good sound. For someone who wants to be mobile, or travels a lot, as myself, perfect buy.
Only one remark I have, I got mine fully scratched on top. Most probably B stock, second hand, already used. That's, actually, remark for Thomann, not device itself.

the little mooer pe100 is okay speaking of the low price. expecting more from a compact cheap guitar amp than this would be ridiculous.

the connectors (ins and outs) are selectable between 3,5 and 6,35 " jacks. the outputrouting is mono. no problem with that. to speak of the knobs and touch buttons they got enough grip for the price, no problem too.

but here s something that makes my using a bit uncomfortable. the distortion amps and overdrives are too loud in relation to the other sounds (youknow reverbs, phasers, chorus ones and stuff). sure an amp model has a "harder, more intensive character" but in this case here its not the saturation of the effect but the output volume which totally differs so that I easily got a peak over by using those amps and distortions while the rest of the effects has an output level that almost aint there to notice by ears.

sure I can regulate that from program to program but its like I said a bit uncomfortable. whats also tricky is to find the a well working overall peak level cauz I use this box in a selfmade analog modulation effect chain for recording.

so if my signal is peaked over its wrecked youknow.

so anyways for the cheap price the overall performance of the little guitar effects box is okay.

PD
Just good enough?
Paul DL 29.02.2020
Well made, many features, seven amps and all the usual effects and increddible affordable, but for this moment in time in amp moddeling not better, maybe even worse than the korg Pandora I had some 20 years ago, the Pandora stomp, I had a couple of years ago and absolutely worse than my line6 pod 2.0, I Just sold. I expected better, so I will send it back to Thomann. By far the best feature is the easy way to change presets or to design your own. The effects are allright to very good, but the amps are the real letdown. They feel stiff and sound unrealistic. If you are in the market for a cheap table top moddeler buy the line 6 mini pod or if you can do without the effects buy the palmer MkII. I also contemplated to change my phone into a moddeling amp, but every youtube video I watched sounded worse than the vids on the mooer pe100. So that was also not the road to take. If you have more money to spend you might want to have something you also can perform with and than you will have to spend 300,- or more for Zoom, Boss or Line 6. The mooer is Just not a good buy.

It is only usable for practice
VasileiosAg 12.01.2021
Sound quality is really mediocre. There are only 7 amp models and none of them is hi gain. If you want a beefy distortion you have to add in the chain an overdrive or a distortion pedal (there are 6 available) but none of them give a good result.
Clean and crunch tones are decent.
Effects are not great but they are usable.
The tuner is very usefull. I would like it to hane a noise gate.
