I've recently purchased a Vandoren Optimun Alto Sax Mouthpiece. I was concerned that if I didn't like it, I would be stuck with it, but, Thomann's policy is that they will have it back if not entirely happy with the product, providing, of course that it has not been damaged or marked. Luckily, I was very happy with the mouthpiece and didn't have to return it. But it was comforting to know that I had a safety net if needed.

Good for tone production.
Declan 30.06.2021
I really appreciate this mouthpiece and used it on alto for a long time
It was a good companion for study in tone production and I worked on voicing and harmonics to cultivate a sound which was in tune, penetrating and slightly mysterious but pretty. Like Brecker but on alto. Well it didn't sound like that, but if you were there you would hear what I mean.
This would be good to try for classical and for soloists where you don't need a high volume.

P
a very good mouthpiece
Pianosaxclarinet 03.10.2013
This mouthpiece was recommended to me by my teacher at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly RSAMD), and when I purchased it and starting playing it I immediately felt that this was an extremely good mouthpiece. It produces an excellent quality of sound, with dark, sonorous, resonant tones in the lower registers while allowing a more brilliant tone through the higher notes, and even allowing an entire octave of altissimo above keyed F#. The narrow tip opening allows for a loose embouchure and an excellent ease of blowing. Its response is not brilliant however, but is still of a very high quality and easy to overcome and get used to working with after a bit of practice. This is a great mouthpiece which I would recommend to those looking for a very flexible, easy to blow mouthpiece, but not for those looking for one with a longer tip opening.

A
Nice mouthpiece!

I have only four mounts of saxophone playing. I bought this mouthpiece after researching pros and cons and can't be more happy. Is easy to blow, it was a beautiful sound and a fast response. It was a big improvement in my sound without needing any new saxophone. Highly recommended.
